It’s no secret that people in our South Southwest Suburban communities are facing some tough challenges. Statistics show that 1 in 5 low-income youth drops out of high school - and less than 10% who graduate go on to college, 80% of uninsured are working families and 1 out of 4 families is so financially stretched that it must cut back on food, medical care and other necessities.

United Way provides the leadership and resources it takes to help people overcome life’s challenges and achieve self-sufficiency. It works to understand the needs in the South-Southwest Suburban area, and then funds a network of programs to address those needs, with regional support, United Way is able to fund programs at the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, just to name some of the local partner agencies.

Your contribution goes towards addressing our community’s greatest challenges which includes:
- Crisis Support
- Youth Empowerment
- Self-Sufficiency
- Health & Wellness

“The issues facing our community are diverse and United Way funds an equally diverse network of programs to address the most pressing health and human services challenges, ” said Vernard Alsberry, Board President South-Southwest Suburban United Way. “This ensures that every gift to the United Way is the most effective way to make the greatest impact possible and improve lives within our South and Southwest Suburban communities.” “Thank you to all donors for making a difference and helping to improve lives in the regions,” said Lisa M.
