On Monday, January 14, 2008, South-Southwest Suburban United Way Board of Directors and staff honored retiring Board Member Paul McCarthy for his many years of dedication and hard work. “Paul is one of the leaders that brought South-Southwest Suburban United Wayto where it is today,” said Vernard Alsberry, Board President, “He has been instrumental in our success and we thank him for his devotion and commitment to the South-Southwest suburban region.” “Working with United Way has really inspired me,” said Paul McCarthy, “The first thing I did when I got to Dallas was find the local United Way representative.”

Paul McCarthy served on the Board of Directors for over five years, remaining committed through several United Way consolidations to ensure that the issues plaguing the Chicago Heights area would not be lost. Mr. McCarthy has accepted a position as President of El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. United Way wishes Paul McCarthy well in his new journey.
